cambscrickethistory.co.uk - research by Willie Sugg into Cambridgeshire cricket 1700-1890
No history is ever complete or definitive. I have tried my hardest to be as thorough as I can on my website but my findings must touch on only a small fraction of what actually happened. I would love to know more and would appreciate ideas for where to look as well as any information you might be willing to share. I would also welcome requests for information which I will do my best to help with. You can make comments, contributions, requests etc by clicking on “comments” below.

I was interested see from your website that you are researching Cambridge cricket in the 1860s. My great grandfather George Arber, born in Cambridge, was a cricketer in the 60s and then cricket coach and groundsman at Malvern College from 1868 until 1905. I have not been able to find out much about his cricketing career, have you come across him in your researches? I would be grateful for any information you could share with me- I don’t intend to publish anything- just information for the family, but will of course credit any information you may pass on. I have information and photographs of him which I could send you if you are interested.

Thanks for your query about George Arber, Nick. I do not know much about him as yet but I do know that there is some confusion as to which of two cricketers called Arber played for Cambridgeshire. I shall get digging and see what I can find. I would certainly be keen to see any photgraphs or information that you have. Willie
